Not only in numbers, but also the size of the fish. My fishing charters caught several fish over 20 inches and the biggest was 27 inches. All of the fish were caught around St Pete Beach and lower Tampa Bay.

There are many ways to catch trout, but lately we’ve just been using live bait over the grass flats. Fishing in 4-6 feet of water produced the most fish, but larger ones were in the 2-3 foot depths. This time of year the fish are full of eggs so we like to practice catch and release on the larger sized trout. You are allowed four fish between 15 and 20 inches per person, one of the four can be over 20, but it’s a good practice the release any trout over 20 inches.

Along with the trout we caught lots of Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel. Closer to the shore along the docks we caught Redfish, Snook and Gag Grouper.

Spring is coming early and the fishing is getting better and better. Call today to book your Fishing Charter – 727-638-0975

For most of the winter we have been using live shrimp, but in the last week a huge amount of baitfish have invaded our area. I can’t ever remember using white bait this early in the year, but I can’t complain because the fish are loving it.

Fishing the flats around St Pete Beach my charters have caught Trout, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, Black Tip Sharks and even some Snook. With water temperature nearing 70 degrees it’s like fishing a springtime bite.

Redfish have been pretty consistent as well and we have been catching those in good numbers in the residential canals along the docks. Having the baitfish has been key to catching the reds because the shrimp tend to get chewed up by the small trash fish. With the way things are going I expect to start seeing more of these red moving onto the flats.

Don’t miss out on this great February weather and fishing. For a St Pete Beach Fishing Charter give me a call today 727-638-0975

When my charters have been able to get off the beach the kingfish bite has been pretty good. Fish ranging from 15 to 35 pounds have been caught free lining live bait behind the boat. There are still a ton spanish mackerel out there and some nice flounder as well. The gag grouper bite in 30-50 feet of water has awesome, but they close for harvest on November 15th.

Inshore the redfish bite continues to be pretty good. Most of the fish are starting to move to their winter hideouts. Fishing docks in the canals of St Pete Beach and Treasure Island has produced some nice slot reds. I had some charter guest that really wanted some reds for dinner, but they weren’t really cooperating. After some trial and error we finally found a small bunch of fish sitting in a deep hole near a dock. We ended up with a 4 person limit and also released about a dozen more reds. Although the trout are out of season they are providing some great catch and release action in lower Tampa Bay.

Inshore or offshore we can get it done, Give me call today 727-638-0975

The nice about St Pete Beach is that there is always somewhere we can fish out of the wind and have a successful day of fishing. On these windy days my fishing charters have been fishing the canals and marinas in and around St Pete Beach and Treasure Island.

You don’t have run 30 miles offshore to catch big Grouper, they are right here in our back yards. Getting these big fish out of the docks is a chore and you will lose some, but it can be done. On a trip last week we pulled several Grouper off just one dock and three of them were keepers. Now every dock doesn’t hold these fish so there is some trial and error, but once you find them hang on.

Also in the docks right now are lots of Redfish, a few Flounder here and there and some Sheepshead. No matter what the conditions fish can be caught. If you would like to book a charter, give me a call today 727-638-0975

Inshore, offshore, nearshore , flats fishing it doesn’t matter fish seem to everywhere. In the last few fishing trips out of St Pete Beach my charters have caught, Trout, Redfish, Snook, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Cobia, Bonita, Sharks, Bluefish, Triple Tail, Grouper, Flounder and even jumped some Tarpon.

With the amount of bait out on St Pete Beach and Treasure Island we’ve been starting our trips along the coast getting a nice live well full of scaled sardines. We then head out about a mile over some structure and just start fishing. They key is having tons bait because the more chum the more fish come around. The bite has usually started with some big Spanish Mackerel first, but it doesn’t take long for the other species to show up. Kingfish, Sharks Cobia, you never know who’s going to show up. On a recent trip the first bait in the water was a 20 pound King.

To mix up the day we head back in shore to fish the flats of St Petersburg and Tampa Bay for a good variety and lots of action. On the deep grass flats the Trout have been pretty cooperative and there are lots of Mackerel, Ladyfish and bluefish on them as well. The amount of redfish around right now has been ridiculous, tides are key for this, but 25- 30 reds in just couple hours has not been uncommon. One charter this past week caught over 30 fishing over some deep structure around the canals of St Pete Beach.

If an action packed fishing charter is what you want then don’t wait too long because this is the time of year to fish. Give me call today 727-638-0975

It’s been over a month since I’ve done a fishing report, but that doesn’t mean the fish hasn’t been good. In fact it has been great! The amount of bait in the Tampa Bay area right now is crazy and along with it brings all kinds of species into play.

The spanish mackerel run has begun out off of the beaches and the larger predators like the kingfish and sharks are right behind them. Fishing Redington Beach, Indian Rocks and Indian Shores Beach has produced some great action and a good variety for my fishing charters. Mackerel, jacks, lady fish and blue fish are all over the surface and the flounder, grouper and snapper are hanging on the bottom. When the tide is right it has been pretty common to catch 50-70 fish.

Inshore fishing on the flats has been great as well. Redfish and trout are pretty much the target species, with the high tides being the best for the reds. On recent charters this past week I had one customer catch 31 redfish before 9:30 am and the very next day had another group stop counting after 40 redfish. The early morning high tide was the key to have a day like that, but the afternoon high still produced a good number of fish as well.

If you want some non stop action fishing give me call and we’ll set up day with some good tides and have a ball! 727-638-0975

On recent inshore fishing charters the fishing has been unreal. Fishing the spoil islands and docks on the inside of St Pete Beach, Treasure Island and Madeira Beach has produced some of the best Redfish action of the year. With 3 of my charters in the past 10 days having caught 30 plus redfish in just a half day, the best day being 37 reds.

Most of the summer I’ve using cut bait and dead bait for the redfish, but lately we’ve been able to chum them up by throwing handfuls of live scaled sardines at them. It’s always a great feeling when you toss out 30 baits to a shoreline and the water immediately starts boiling of reds exploding on the baits. Cast one to the splash and you’ll be hooked up in seconds. The baits are pretty small this time of year so you can keep feeding the reds by chumming and they won’t fill up. This will allow you to keep the school behind the boat and really catch a bunch of fish.

Other species being caught right now are speckled trout, sharks, flounder, mangrove snapper and the big mackerel are starting to show up good with all the bait around. Look for the kingfish to soon follow.

To book a charter give me a call today 727-638-0975

There are some fish to be caught right where we are catching the bait but I have been taking them back up into the flats of Tampa Bay and fishing for snook , trout, redfish and many other species.

Trout continue to be the most consistent bite and it has been not uncommon to have 40 fish plus days. This week we have caught them on the deep edge of the grass flats and mixed in with them has been some spanish mackerel, blue fish and black tip sharks.

The redfish bite has been good if not great, but your window to catch them has been very small. The early morning high tide is the ticket to catching the reds, but after that its been a little tricky.

One fish that my charters have not caught a lot of lately is snook, but the handful we have caught have been nice quality fish. Reports coming from scuba divers offshore is that there are ton of snook out there. While that is a really good sign that there is a healthy snook population, hopefully they will return from gulf soon and the snook bite inshore on the flats will get better.

If you want to get on a some great inshore fishing action give me a call 727-638-0975 and we’ll get you out. There are still some tarpon around and the spanish and king mackerel run is just around the corner.

We got back on the flats of St Petersburg and Tampa Bay and the fishing was great. Our main target has was trout and redfish, but we also caught snook, flounder, jacks, blue fish and lots of small black tip and bonnet head sharks.

Because of the heat I have been starting my charters at first light and it has really paid off. The trout bite first thing in the morning has been awesome. The bait this time of year is really small and the trout love them. Most of the fish have been in the 16 inch range, but we’re also catching a lot of big trout too. The biggest recently was 25 inches.

Because of the 87 degree water temperature the redfish haven’t wanted to chase any live bait, so they have been a little difficult to chum up. finding the big schools of mullet around the mangrove islands has been the key to finding the reds. Whatever kind of cut bait I’ve been able to get has worked, either ladyfish, pinfish or threadfin has worked really well. Pictured in this report are Tyler and his twin brother Parker from Colorado. They got on a nice little school of reds and landed 13 of them, with biggest being 31 inches.

Even though its hot fishing is still good and will continue through the summer. Tarpon are still here and there is plenty of action on the flats. Give me call 727-638-0975

On recent charters we have gotten as many as 8 hook ups in just 4 hours of fishing. Most of the fish have been right around the 100 lb. range with biggest being estimated at 170 lbs. Over 20 fish were put in the air this week and we have landed at least a dozen fish. St Pete Beach and Treasure Island seem to have the best bite and almost all of the fish were caught on pinfish. There is still going to be some great Tarpon action in the coming weeks, but I only have just a few days open, so If you really want to tarpon fish don’t wait to call.

If you are not interested in battling the “silver king” or just want some action for the kids the trout and redfish bite has been very consistent. Fishing flats around St Pete we’re catching many large trout and the redfish have all been over slot fish. Fishing live and cut bait has produced fish around the high tides. Whatever you you want catch we can do it, give me call today, 727-638-0975
