Fishing Charter Report – Madeira Beach, Treasure Island and St Pete Beach

by Capt. Kevin Walton on April 30, 2011

Monster Redfish and Trout continue to be the norm when fishing the flats on the back side of Madeira Beach, Treasure Island and St Pete Beach. The fish seem to be in different spots each day and are moving around quite a bit. It has made some of my fishing charters a little difficult, but once we found them it was game on.

Last week produced the biggest Trout of the year at 28 inches and the biggest Redfish of the year at 35 inches. Both fish were caught by kids! While no monster Snook were caught, the snook bite has been pretty good on the right tides and most charters have completed the inshore slam.

Fishing action out in the Gulf of Mexico has been really good as well. Fishing just a half mile from the coast of Madeira Beach, Treasure Island and St Pete Beach, we have caught Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Grouper and even a few nice Triple Tail. The Triple Tail have been spotted from my tower when we are cruising from spot to spot. When I find one they usually eat just about anything you trow at them.

Flats Fishing will continue to be great all through May and with June and July being my favorite months to fish for Tarpon on the beach, its going to be an exciting few months. So if you want to book a charter give me a call 727-638-0975, Capt Kevin Walton
