St Pete Beach Fishing

by Capt. Kevin Walton on September 27, 2012

Fall fishing is here and the action has been great. Tons of Spanish Mackerel are off St Pete Beach right now and are feeding on anything you put in front of them. The Kingfish have also started to show up in the last few days and we’re catching them up to 20lbs.  They’re isn’t a lot of Kings here just yet, but each day we are catching more than the last, soon they will be everywhere.

On recent charters we have been anchoring about 1mile off St Pete Beach  in 20ft of water. We load the well full of scaled sardines and live chum like crazy to get them in frenzy. As soon as your bait hits the water its fish on! This my favorite time of the year because nothing screams the drag like a Spanish or King Mackerel. Catching over 50 fish in a half-day charter is not uncommon and you may be lucky enough to get that 40lb plus King.

October is nearly full so if want to get in on some the best fishing action of the year call today 727-638-0975
