In the last 10 days I have had 2 different charters complete the Grand Slam of inshore fishing. That is catching a tarpon, snook, trout and redfish all in the same day.
We’ve been fishing up in the bay on most tarpon fishing charters, but there are a lot of fish starting to show up on the beaches as well. St Pete Beach, Treasure Island and Madeira Beach have all produced fish lately.
On the high tides the redfish have been on the oyster bars and most mangrove islands in the area. Cut lady fish or threadfin hearing has been the best bait and most of the fish have been around the 30″ range.
Snook fishing hasn’t been easy, but the fish we getting are really nice size fish. In one half day fishing trip we got a 34″, 36″ and a 31″ out of the same spot. Live scaled sardines or cut lady fish have been the best baits for snook.
Sea Trout continue to be abundant around the grass flats in 4 feet of water. They’ll take about any bait you present them and they’ve been on the larger side compared to most summer time trout.
If you would like to try for the grand slam, give me a call today, there are only handful of open days left in June so don’t miss out. 727-638-0975
