It’s been over a month since I’ve done a fishing report, but that doesn’t mean the fish hasn’t been good. In fact it has been great! The amount of bait in the Tampa Bay area right now is crazy and along with it brings all kinds of species into play.
The spanish mackerel run has begun out off of the beaches and the larger predators like the kingfish and sharks are right behind them. Fishing Redington Beach, Indian Rocks and Indian Shores Beach has produced some great action and a good variety for my fishing charters. Mackerel, jacks, lady fish and blue fish are all over the surface and the flounder, grouper and snapper are hanging on the bottom. When the tide is right it has been pretty common to catch 50-70 fish.
Inshore fishing on the flats has been great as well. Redfish and trout are pretty much the target species, with the high tides being the best for the reds. On recent charters this past week I had one customer catch 31 redfish before 9:30 am and the very next day had another group stop counting after 40 redfish. The early morning high tide was the key to have a day like that, but the afternoon high still produced a good number of fish as well.
If you want some non stop action fishing give me call and we’ll set up day with some good tides and have a ball! 727-638-0975
